After a two year Covid 19 break and bad weather, Mother's Day by the Bay is returning to the Manly Creative Markets on Sunday 14 May 2023.
Treat mum to a day at the Markets, and be entertained by a diversified program of performances, take a walk along the Esplanade and enjoy a meal in the Manly Harbour Village.
Meet our performers:
The Swingalicious Big Band
The Swingalicious Big Band is a 17 piece band in the Big Band format that plays a variety of music from the 40s onwards. Music styles include Swing, Funk, Rock, Blues, Latin, Pop and more - anything from Glenn Miller to the Spice Girls. The band is a community ensemble based on Brisbane's Northside and their members include career musicians, educators and keen amateurs.
Cody Miller
Cody Miller is a talented artist living in Brisbane who has been performing in the region since he was a teenager. Cody is a third-year student of the Bachelor of Contemporary Music at the University of Canberra. You'll be able to hear why music is his dream thanks to his rich, soulful tones and guitar playing. Currently, Cody is working on his debut EP Calming of the Storm.
Momentum
Momentum is a non-auditioned, four-part harmony community choir based at Tingalpa. The group has been singing together for 13 years under the Musical Directorship of Lynelle McDonald and Accompanist Charlotte Hambly. Momentum enjoy performing repertoire of contemporary popular music for the Manly Chamber of Commerce events, Bayside charity fundraiser concerts, Aged Care facilities and shared concerts with choirs from Crows Nest, Stanthorpe, Caloundra, Chillingham and Blackbutt. Regular Christmas performances include Bulimba Uniting Church Community Carols, Wesley Hospital and Music in Minnippi 2021.
The Rising Phoenix Tribal Belly Dancers
The Rising Phoenix Tribal Belly Dancers are a School & Performance Troupe focused on developing a positive culture of Tribal sisterhood in dance and community performance in and around the Redlands for the last 5 years. Women from all ages and walks of life have come together for fun, fitness, friendship and the pure joy of dancing together as a Tribe, with so many styles fused together we are learning a beautiful craft that takes time, patience and practice to perfect.
V&G String Show
The V&G String show is a new collaboration between, international string artist and “Aussie String Diva”, Ms Suzie G and her talented 7 year-old daughter Valentina G. They began officially performing together as an acoustic string duo in January 2023 at the Manly Creative Markets. Valentina began violin lessons aged 6 and piano aged 3, she is also attending the Young Conservatorium of Music orchestral program.
