Latest Updates - October 2023 The team working on the refresh have been busy over the past month, with the expected date for completion now expected to be early December . Whilst this is a few weeks longer than originally anticipated due to some delays on building materials, The Mall remains open for trade, and we continue to encourage our community to support local traders. Other updates: The toilet refresh is now complete and is looking fresh and clean. Full access has been restored, so you’re able to access the bathrooms again. We’ve listened to our community and have found a solution to keeping and repairing the existing character tiles on The Mall floor. We’re pleased to be able to keep some of the original character of the building. The ceiling removal has exposed a large void which we’re opening up to create a much greater sense of space and a lighter, brighter shopping village for all to enjoy. What’s next? Over the coming weeks, the team will be sectioning off areas of The Mall to complete works, so we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. The Mall will remain open throughout the rest of the refresh so pop down and say hi to our traders. Latest Updates - July 2023 What is happening in Manly Harbour Village? Manly Harbour Village Shopping Centre is undergoing a refresh in the coming months and will be re-branded to be known as The Mall. This is phase one and has been designed as a refresh. This refresh of the current centre, will bring more light & space, improve accessibility and offer better signage for our traders. There are a number of planned works designed to accommodate future expansion and development of the centre, whilst still retaining the local village feel we know and love. Which stores will be impacted? The Mall will remain open throughout the refresh, ensuring minimal downtime for each of our stores. IGA will remain open throughout the works, but some short term closures of other stores will be required. Where possible, we will try to ensure that as few stores at a time are impacted, to ensure our community can continue to shop as normal in the village. Exact timings will be communicated closer to the time of any impacts. Will there be any access changes? Any access changes will be communicated in advance, as exact timings become apparent. How long will the update take? The refurbishment project plan is scheduled to begin in mid August and is expected to take a few months. The shopping village will remain open for trade, with disruption minimised where possible. Please note Jones & Co IGA will remain open throughout the change so you will still be able to access all of your everyday essentials. What changes are being made to the shopping centre? This refurbishment is a blend of necessary building changes and cosmetic improvements to freshen up the shopping village. Whilst it’s not a complete renovation, you will notice changes to the exterior of the building, the space and light inside the building, improved amenities and access as well as better signage and navigation. Will the carpark be impacted? Access to the car park may be impacted at times and will be minimised as much as possible. Will the bathrooms be impacted? If so, how? The bathrooms will undergo a cosmetic refresh and will need to close for a few days to enable this to happen. Temporary toilets will be provided while the bathrooms are not available. The exact dates will be shared once available. Who can I talk to if I have any questions? We understand that there may be some specific questions which might arise - please send an e-mail to promotions@manlyharbourvillage.com if you have any questions or concerns. - History: Manly Harbour Village Shopping Centre
Manly Harbour Village Shopping Centre has a rich history and has long been the central hub of the Manly Harbour Village shopping community. Constructed in the 1960’s by Stan Davis, the original Mall had a butcher, green-grocer, newsagent, general store and a barber, before being home to one of Brisbane’s Cash and Carry Stores. All very similar to the shops and services that can be found in the shopping centre today. Interestingly, The Mall was actually the original name of the Village Shopping Centre built on the corner of Cambridge Pde and Stratton Tce. Many locals have shared their stories of their time spent working and shopping in the building and the local village stores. While there have been lots of changes over the past 60 years, Manly Harbour Village still retains its village feel even as it transitions to a more vibrant and progressive shopping, dining and leisure precinct. .
